The voting period for the election of medical members to the Medical Council will continue until 5pm on Tuesday, 26 March. The poll had been due to close on Friday, 15 March 2013, however the Returning Officer made the decision that voting should continue. There has been strong interest from the profession in these elections and the longer voting period will provide an enhanced opportunity for doctors to exercise their democratic right to vote.

Voting is being conducted through the Medical Council's online portal for doctors which was launched in May 2012. While many doctors have successfully activated their accounts since then, in recent days, there has been an increased demand for support by doctors to activate and navigate this process.

Dedicated supports will remain in place via email to online@mcirl.ie or via phone at (01) 498 3160.
