RCSI MyHealth explores realities of living with cardiac disease and practical ways to protect your heart health
More than 500 members of the public attended Your Healthy Heart, the latest in the MyHealth RCSI series.
Heart disease affects thousands of people in Ireland every year. Your Healthy Heart saw healthcare experts and patient advocates with lived experience explore the realities of heart health.
Chaired by Professor Hannah McGee, Emeritus Professor in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, RCSI, attendees heard from heart-attack survivor Sharon Butler and heart-transplant recipient Stephen Comerford, who are both in their 40s.
They also heard from cardiac specialists including Professor Robert Byrne, Chair of Cardiovascular Research, RCSI and Director of Cardiology, Mater Private Hospital, Dublin; Paul Stoneman, Cardiology Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Honorary Clinical Lecturer, RCSI and Janis Morrissey, Director of Health Promotion, Information and Training, Irish Heart Foundation.
Before the event, guests were invited to visit the Heart: more than a beat exhibition at Humanarium, located at RCSI, 118 St Stephen’s Green.
Running since 2017, MyHealth RCSI, supported by PRESIDIO, connects expert knowledge with everyday life. The free programme of community events, expert talks and on-demand content, shares trusted health information for all.
