Inspiring Excellence Award
Launched in 2018, the Inspiring Excellence initiative aims to inspire current students and visitors to the University by showcasing the outstanding achievements of some of our Medicine and Nursing (BSc and MSc) graduates in the form of a gallery of portraits along the walls of the campus.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria:
- The candidate must have completed a MB BCH BAO, BSc Nursing or MSc Nursing from RCSI Medical University of Bahrain.
- The candidate must show he/she is excelling in his/her career in healthcare, making significant impact in clinical care, health science, humanitarianism or within healthcare management.
- Contributions to RCSI Medical University of Bahrain (e.g. community engagement activities, alumni talk, student council, events)
- List of publications
- List of previous awards (from RCSI Medical University of Bahrain or any other awarding body)
- List of certifications
Condition: Can only be won once by a graduate.
Nominations mid-September to mid-October.
Panel meeting and final decision end of October/ 1st week of November.

2024
Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist with expertise in diagnostic and interventional imaging. She currently practices at Salmaniya Medical Complex (Bahrain) and Tarmeem Orthopedics Hospital (UAE). Dr. Husain completed advanced fellowships at Vancouver General Hospital (Canada) and Mount Sinai Hospital (USA). She is an active academic contributor, serving as a reviewer for leading journals, a lecturer in multiple training programs, and a representative in regional and international radiology societies. A recipient of multiple honors—including the Crown Prince’s Scholarship, Resident of the Year, and research awards—she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented widely at international conferences.
Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow at the Mayo Clinic, specializing in minimally invasive surgical techniques and medical education. Originally from Baghdad, Dr. Alwatari graduated with first-class honors from RCSI Bahrain, later training in the UK, University of Pennsylvania, and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as Chief Resident. He is a multi-award-winning surgeon and educator, recognized by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the American College of Surgeons, and VCU for teaching and research excellence. With over 40 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and numerous international conference presentations, he is regarded as a rising leader in cardiothoracic surgery and surgical education.
Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience spanning critical care, aviation medicine, and occupational health. Currently serving with Gulf Air Medical Services, she conducts health evaluations for aviation staff, manages onboard incidents, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. She also teaches advanced trauma care for nurses at the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital. Holder of a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from RCSI Bahrain, Lolwa is recognized for her leadership, teamwork, and resilience. She has presented at professional conferences and was awarded Gulf Air Group’s Employee of the Month in June 2024.
