Teaching and education
HPEC supports the professional development of health professions educators through a wide range of initiatives, including one-to-one consultancies, training, peer observation of teaching and formal teaching qualifications.
Our aim is to equip health professions educators with evidence-based teaching and learning strategies to help them to utilise contemporary learning theories within practical teaching contexts. We also aim to connect health professions educators with each other; nurturing a vibrant community of like-minded professionals. Specific areas of teaching and learning expertise within the HPEC team include: assessment, technology-enhanced learning, curriculum development, and cultural competence.

Developing health and social care staff
Teamcare is an EU-funded project aimed at training community-based health and social care staff to work collaboratively for the benefit of service users.
Teamcare will train whole teams to understand each other’s roles, communicate effectively, learn about the different services available and to collaborate to ensure shared decision-making with service users and carers.
The project will be piloted in Greece, Ireland, Italy and Poland. RCSI is hosting the Irish pilot which is scheduled to start end of September 2025 and will be delivered mainly online over-eight months with in-person team support sessions, and work-based learning. Teamcare will involve 30 ECTS and provide micro-credentials.
