The Higher Degree Conferring Ceremony will take place in RCSI on Monday, 24 May 2027.

The following degrees and awards will be presented:

• Degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Physician Associate Studies
• Degree of Master of Science (MSc)
• Degree of Master of Surgery (MCh) by Module
• Degree of Master of Surgery (MCh) by Research
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD)
• Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Schedule

• 10:30 – Registration and gown collection
• 10:30 – Conferring photographer
• 12:00 – Conferring ceremony
• 13:15 – Conferring reception
• 13:15 – Photography studios reopen
• 14:15 – End and gown returns

Academic dress

All graduands must pre-book robes with the official robe-makers, Phelan Conan Limited. Robes may be pre-booked online here. The pre-paid hire fee is €45 or pay on the day hire fee is €50.

Due to the implementation of a personal 3D secure password during the credit card payment process online, Phelan Conan staff are no longer able to take bookings over the phone. This has been created to protect your online payments and if you don’t already have a 3D secure password you can activate it by following the simple instructions during the booking process. If you experience any further problems with 3D secure process, please contact your bank. Cash will not be accepted. All gowns must be returned to Phelan Conan as soon as possible after the conclusion of the ceremony.

Robes can be collected on Monday, 24 May between 10:30–11:30 in RCSI prior to the conferring ceremony.   

RCSI have appointed Phelan Conan as the on-site robe providers after a competitive tender process. However, students are free to use an alternative robe supplier, as long as they adhere to NUI’s academic dress booklet.

Photography

Lafayette Photographers will be located on site throughout the Higher Degree Conferring to take professional individual and family portraits. Please visit their website Lafayette Photography website to pre-book.

Pre-booking is highly recommended for your photography session.

Please note: The online booking facilities for Phelan Conan and Lafayette will open in the coming months.

Order of proceedings

Graduands are invited to register 1hr30mins prior to their conferring ceremony.

At registration, graduands will be provided with a seat number which signifies the order in which they will be called to the platform.

Graduands and guests are asked to take their seats no later than 30 minutes prior to the ceremony commences.

Guest tickets

Each graduand will receive two guest tickets. If capacity permits, graduands will be permitted to request additional ticket(s) when registering for the conferring in April 2027.

Extra tickets will be allocated to those on the waiting list, subject to availability, once all graduands have completed registration.

Please note: Confirmation may not be available on extra ticket requests until the week prior to the event.

Live stream

A live stream of the conferring ceremony will be available for friends and family to watch around the world. The stream will be available on this page and will begin at 12.00 (Irish Standard Time).
