RCSI has celebrated and recognised the seven recipients of a 2025 RCSI Alumni Award at a special ceremony in the historic surroundings of 123 St Stephen’s Green.

The annual RCSI Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of our graduate community, from each of RCSI's six Schools.

From undergraduate to postgraduate level, the Awards recognise the leadership and contribution RCSI alumni make to healthcare across all stages of their careers and provide an incredible source of inspiration for students at RCSI.

This year saw the largest number of nominations to date, with over 140 submissions received from fellow graduates. From medicine to nursing, the submissions gave the review panellists an incredible insight into the commitment of our alumni to their profession and to patients.

Making an impact

More than 100 guests were warmly welcomed to the Alumni Awards ceremony by Professor Cathal Kelly, RCSI Vice Chancellor. Ms Aíne Gibbons, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, then invited each Awardee to the stage in turn, providing a brief introduction for each, before they were presented with their award – a unique, individualised print of their portrait, as created by Irish artist Maser, who designed the large scale Alumni Awards Mural which is displayed in the lobby of RCSI.

During the ceremony Ms Gibbons commented that the awardees "have been and continue to be the most amazing and inspiring role models to all of us in RCSI". She concluded the evening by acknowledging that "RCSI don’t often have the opportunity to thank you, but it is my great privilege to do so this evening and to tell you that your alma mater is very proud of you".

The seven awardees who were celebrated on the evening were:

  • Dr Muhammad Radzi bin Abu Hassan (School of Medicine, Class of 1990) – recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Kieron Connolly (School of Physiotherapy, Class of 2017) – recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Dr Muirne Spooner (School of Postgraduate Studies, Class of 2023) - recipient of the RCSI Ambassador Award
  • Maryam Alobaidly (School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, Class of 2011) - recipient of the Inspiring Educator Award
  • Mr Morgan McMonagle FRCSI (Graduate School of Healthcare Management, Class of 2020) - recipient of the Humanitarian and Community Award
